We are now looking to appoint a Process Engineer for the Engineering & Integration Support (EIS) division. 

The EIS division is the central engineering and technical division providing transversal support and services to the ESS project and organisation. The vacant position belongs to the Plant & Process Section. 

About the role

The candidate will work in the frame of the EIS division supporting all sub-projects at ESS, namely Target, Accelerator and Neutron Scattering Systems on the definition of fluid system process, including (but not limited to) water cooling systems.

The assignment will include:


• Definition of the process system (PFD and P&ID’s), i.e. system design including interfaces.
• Interaction with other internal disciplines including piping designer, electrical and control engineers
• Writing of functional specification for existing and new systems
• Writing of operating manuals for existing and new systems
• Proposing technical advice: calculations, dimensioning, troubleshooting, alternative solutions
• Coordinating testing and commissioning activities
• Develop best practises in relation to design, testing and commissioning activities
• Supporting the development of maintenance and operation routines
• Perform risk assessments
• Ensure handover to Operations

About you

We believe that the successful candidate has the following background: 


• Education in Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; B.Sc. or similar
• At least 5-10 years of process design work with different types process systems
• Experience of all project phases from design to commissioning of process system and working together with other disciplines i.e. piping design, instrumentation, control design, etc. is essential.
• Experience in collecting requirements and consolidating them into system design (PFD and P&ID), detail design and relevant technical documentation (control logic, functional specification)
• Good knowledge in common norms and standards applicable for process and mechanical engineering and design, specifically PED and ATEX and methodologies like HAZOP

The following qualifications would be considered an advantage: 


• Experience from Oil & Gas and pharmaceutical design work 
• Some experience as a lead designer or project manager as well as management and support of outsourcing of some scope 
• Knowledge of Aveva suite or equivalent
