SKF Group MPD (Manufacturing and Process Development), belonging of 150 employees of various nationalities, has a responsibility for developing new manufacturing processes and equipment for ultimate use in SKF factories distributed worldwide. Accordingly MPD endeavours to keep informed on all new technology developments and how they can be applied to improve production efficiency, quality and performance of SKF products.

MPD is formed of 5 departments; Steel, Forming & Heat treatment, Machine & Machining, Future Factory, QT & Automation and Capex. To further on strengthen Machine & Machining we are now looking for a


Process Specialist – Hard Machining


We are seeking a Process Specialist who can contribute to the development within the Hard Machining area, with special focus on Grinding, Hard turning and Superfinishing of hardened steel. The person should be highly motivated to work with the technology development both in an R&D and a factory environment.


Key Tasks
• To initiate, define, execute activities and lead projects dealing with the R&D, manufacture and installation of processes and equipment in the SKF Group.
• To drive Hard Machining issues and to develop a good working cooperation network with key actors within the area.
• Support the MPD team with theoretical knowledge in Grinding, Hard Turning and Superfinishing in dif-ferent machine tool or process development projects.
• To work with universities, research institutes and suppliers to develop new competence for the SKF Group.
• To keep aware of external developments within the area and translate new findings into opportunities for the SKF Group.
• To train in internal Hard Machining courses for the SKF community


Requirements
• University education (BSc, MSc) preferably in machining processes or mechanical engineering.
• 3 years’ experience in the industrial application of Hard Machining processes.
• Experience from manufacturing environment and machine tool knowledge.
• A self-motivated, proactive team worker with good communication skills.
• Experience in leading projects.
• Good ability to speak and write in English.
• Willingness to travel and to work abroad on short assignments.

The position holder will report to the Department Manager Machine and Machining, who is located in Gothenburg.
