The Assignment
The Product developer has a key role in a team of experts where she or he together will create and develop the IKEA product range for the many people. This means that the Product Developer interpret people?s needs and dreams into IKEA products with an IKEA unique design. A Product Developer lead the product development team and are responsible for developing the product from the raw material, through the whole value chain, to the customer.
A Product Developer work closely internally, with production, sales and material experts, and externally, with industry, suppliers and innovation partners globally.

A few of the main accountabilities are:

-Responsible for translating relevant strategies and business needs into objectives according to Democratic Design.
- Lead the total project and deliveries in product development team.
- Accountable for securing all aspects of democratic design, striving to exceed customer expectations.
-Challenge existing solutions by driving innovation and creativity throughout the development process.
-Creating conditions for further optimization of IKEAs total value chain.
-Responsible for involving and optimizing the cross-functional competencies in the development team.
-Securing that our product offer is based on knowledge and research about life at home.
-Responsible for business case and overall performance of product development.

Being a part of IKEA of Sweden is as much fun as it is challenging. We want someone to continuously push the boundaries in terms of innovation, value, sustainability and simplicity in our product development process. Delivery is a big focus in this role, and we will require a Product Developer to deliver projects on time and within budget.

A Product developer is someone who have a genuine interest in developing products. Someone who have the ability to see things from a customer?s perspective and conceptualize things that don?t exist.

In order to be successful in the job as a Product Developer, we expect a person who have a university degree or equivalent knowledge and several years of experience in working with product development and maintaining a profitable portfolio in a global context. Someone who have a proven track record of successfully lead a team in a creative product development environment from start to finish from a both people- and business-perspective. The background of this person should be in environments where interaction with different internal and external stakeholders was needed and to build on that network to create value and innovation. We believe that the person we look for have a good understanding of the challenges at stake in this role, drawn for participation in development projects which includes that she or he is mature enough to lead in the unknown.
