Product Specialist for Mining Drill Strings

Product Specialist for Mining Drill Strings

Arbetsbeskrivning

It sure takes commitment to be the leading supplier of equipment, tools, services, support and technical solutions for the mining and construction industry, and at Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology, we aim for nothing less!

For division Rock Tools, we’re now looking for an organized, service minded and commercially focused Product Specialist to work with our mining drill strings. This is an exciting position, where you get to develop your technical skills in close collaboration with our customers, and be one of the key links to the success of our future business. We offer you a flexible business environment where work life balance not only matters, but is truly encouraged. Add to this a large global network, passionate colleagues and a dynamic, innovative and high tech arena to advance within. All the reasons to join us and our world of opportunities!

About the job
When entering this position, your main focus is to drive the global technical development and product configuration of our drill strings account – both within Rotary and Down The Hole products – and you do this based on the needs of the market and our customers. With your technical knowledge and commercial mindset, you support and gather valuable input for our product life cycles, and you bring back your insights to our R&D and product development teams. Your tasks include performing on-site performance tests, evaluating statistics, analyzing root causes to upcoming issues and identifying improvements, and you look at market trends and competition to better understand our current position. In all of this, you seek to find and implement opportunities for product development cycle optimization, and especially to reduce the cycle times.

Your network is widely spread, and besides working with our customers and the product development teams, you closely interact with resources from our Production Unit in Santiago, Chile (where our drill strings are produced), as well as with application engineers, business line managers and technical sales support specialists globally. You train and educate customers and internal personnel on drilling practices, product selection, application, maintenance, features and benefits – both on site and digitally – to find the best and most profitable ways of working with our drill string products. You also coordinate and support supplier audits.

Travel is of course a big part of your work under normal circumstances, and when not travelling, you’re located at our site in Sandviken, Sweden.

About you
For this job, your technical knowledge is very important, and we believe that your previous career include similar technical roles such as Application/Product Specialist or Sales Engineer - preferably within the mining industry. Experience from working at a mine site, and understanding of Rotary and Down The Hole tools and equipment is naturally beneficial. You have a bachelor’s within Engineering or another technical field, and since we work in a global setting, you’re fluent in English, while skills in Spanish is a plus.

You have a business-minded approach, excellent communication skills and an open, inclusive way of working, which makes it easy for you to interact and educate people within your broad global networks. You’re also analytical, fact-based and motivated to bring results. Finally, you truly enjoy to solve problems and find opportunities for improvement – big or small, by yourself or together with others – and you keep the full picture in mind as you share your knowledge and drive best practices.
