Gotland University announces the position of Program Coordinator (Social and Economic Governance) at its new Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development (SWEDESD) and is seeking candidates who wish to join a small, pioneering core team that has the challenging task of developing and implementing the Centre's programs and activities. Through learning events, a state-of-the-art internet platform, research and evaluation, experience sharing, knowledge exchange, networking, partnerships and participation in the policy debate, SWEDESD is expected to assist persons and organizations to develop and strengthen their ESD capacity, especially - but not exclusively - in developing countries. The work of the Centre is process-oriented and demand-driven. Activities are developed gradually, in close cooperation with parties in Sida's partner countries and relevant CSOs. The position has a special focus on the social, economic and governance aspects and issues of (learning and education for) sustainable development. The selected candidate will be joining the SWEDESD core team, consisting of the Director, the Scientific Director, the Administrator, the ICT Officer (under recruitment) and two other Program Coordinators (Education and Learning and Environment and Climate). Within the area of competence and expertise and in close coordination with the other team members, the Program Coordinator is expected to (a) initiate, coordinate and administer programs of learning, research and policy analysis and capacity development with well-identified stakeholders and target groups, especially in the Global South and East, (b) identify and stimulate networks with appropriate institutions and organizations in Sweden and elsewhere, and (c) establish partnerships with selected organizations, while assisting them in their capacity development. The Program Coordinator's duties will include the following: * Provide leadership for specific programs and activities. * Contribute to the formulation of the Centre's strategy, policies and programmes. * Stay abreast of the latest developments in specific disciplines or thematic fields. * Identify demand and opportunities for new initiatives and engage in mapping exercises. * Identify, engage with and sustain networks, (partner) institutions, expertise and initiatives in the ESD field. * Collect, compile, structure information, data, knowledge etc. in the relevant fields and prepare it for dissemination, using a variety of methods. * Identify, initiate, formulate and coordinate innovative research and evaluation projects. * Design, develop, direct, implement and administer innovative and effective learning programs, events, workshops, seminars and conferences (in situ and on line). * Develop and use appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems and tools for measuring outputs, outcomes, effectiveness and impact of the Centre's activities. * Initiate and develop innovative project proposals in close cooperation with significant partners.
