Plan International Sweden is looking for a Program Manager with strong experience in project and program management in humanitarian action , preferably with a focus on children's rights and gender equality. You will join our experienced and committed team at the Program Department working in the Humanitarian Unit together with Program Managers, Thematic Advisors and Institutional Partnership Managers.

We offer the right candidate a challenging role with a diverse range of stimulating duties and responsibilities. Together with your colleagues, you are part of designing and enhancing our international program portfolio. As Program Manager, you will manage processes and various partnerships in order to ensure the development, monitoring and quality assurance of program activities with a focus on strengthening the rights of children and youth.

As a Program Manager with Plan International Sweden, you will have the following key responsibilities:

Manage various processes, partnerships and relationships with selected Country Offices to secure high-quality project and program design and project proposals;

Oversee, jointly with relevant Plan International Country Offices, timely and successful implementation of project and program activities throughout the project cycle and in accordance with Plan International routines and guidelines.

Support Country Offices to achieve results and ensure regular and high standard of monitoring, evaluation and reporting in line with donor requirements and technical standards in cooperation with thematic advisors and other key functions.

- Represent Plan International Sweden externally and engage with other relevant actors.
- Monitor developments and conduct contextual analyzes focusing on children's rights and operating environments in the countries you are responsible for.
- Actively contribute in processes with other units and departments at Plan International Sweden to further increase learning.

We are looking for a candidate with:

- Higher degree in political science, law, human rights, social science or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in humanitarian guidelines and standards
- Demonstrated experience in project design and management – including financial management - and comfortable working with a results-based approach.
- Several years of experience of working internationally with humanitarian action. Preferably working with one or more of Plan International prioritized humanitarian sectors of Child Protection in Emergencies, Education in Emergencies, SRHR in Emergencies, Food Security and Nutrition and Disaster Preparedness.

Excellent written and oral English skills.

Additional language skills in French is considered a major benefit.

Very good knowledge and proven skills of the Microsoft Office suite, Teams and other communication tools.


You are a strongly motivated person, analytical and work strategically against set goals. You are well organized, pay attention to detail and are accustomed to working independently against deadlines. You are a team player with good organizational and communication skills. You have the ability to coordinate your work and handle multiple stakeholders. Also, you can easily formulate yourself in speech and writing in English.

About the position

The position is a parental cover position for 1 year, with the possibility of extension, and a full-time basis which corresponds to 37.5h/week. The position is based in Stockholm and a valid work permit for Sweden is a requirement. We work part-time from the office and part-time from home/flexible location. The position includes travel to countries where Plan International Sweden has program cooperation. The Program Manager will be based in the Plan International Sweden's Humanitarian Unit.
