Programme Specialist - Economic Dimension of Sustainable Development Gotland University is seeking a specialist in the economic dimension of sustainable development for its Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development (SWEDESD), established in 2008 and funded by Sida.The Institution Gotland University - a young and congenial institution of higher education and research in Visby - is constructing a unique Liberal Education environment for interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and sustainability studies. SWEDESD's goal is to advance the content, methods and policies of learning and education that empower people, communities and organizations to exercise significant positive influence on their well-being and livelihoods under conditions of environmental sustainability, social justice and economic equity and viability.The Centre's programmes are demand-driven and process-oriented.Activities are developed and implemented in close cooperation with selected partner organizations and networks in the Global South including Sida's partner countries. By means of training & learning, research & development and communication & knowledge exchange, SWEDESD is working with persons and organizations (with special attention to those associated with poverty alleviation) to develop and strengthen their capacity to formulate, engage in and commit to choices leading to sustainable change. The position and responsibilities The Programme Specialist is member of a small interdisciplinary team of dedicated professionals, who have the ambition to make SWEDESD a central international network node in the domain of learning and decision making for strong sustainability.The Programme Specialist will make significant contributions to the management, design and implementation of the Centre's learning, research and communication programmes and activities, with special reference to the micro-economic and macro-economic dimensions of sustainable development and education for sustainable development.The Programme Specialist will provide conceptual, strategic and practical leadership on topics and issues related to: a) the economics of strong sustainability, including economic growth and wealth creation, and/or b) poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods.The Programme Specialist will have a lead role in articulating the economic dimensions of SWEDESD's strategy and programmes.S/he will actively contribute to conceptualizing, researching and operationalizing the economic dimensions in SWEDESD's substantive areas of interest: sustainable learning, decision making and behavior change; simulations, scenario building and game technology; methods and curricula of ESD; sustainability in education systems; food production and consumption; and, sustainable enterprise.For more information and complete description of requirements and application procedures visit www.hgo.se "Lediga jobb" or www.swedesd.se "Employment Opportunities".
