Programme Specialist - Education and Learning with special reference to simulations and scenarios Gotland University is seeking a specialist in the field of education/learning and sustainable development, with special reference to the application of game technology, simulations and scenario building, for its Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development (SWEDESD), established in 2008 and funded by Sida.The Institution Gotland University - a young and congenial institution of higher education and research in Visby - is constructing a unique Liberal Education environment for interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and sustainability studies. SWEDESD's goal is to advance the content, methods and policies of learning and education that empower people, communities and organizations to exercise significant positive influence on their well-being and livelihoods under conditions of environmental sustainability, social justice and economic equity and viability.The Centre's programmes are demand-driven and process-oriented.Activities are developed and implemented in close cooperation with selected partner organizations and networks in the Global South including Sida's partner countries. By means of training & learning, research & development and communication & knowledge exchange, SWEDESD is working with persons and organizations (with special attention to those associated with poverty alleviation) to develop and strengthen their capacity to formulate, engage in and commit to choices leading to sustainable change. The position and responsibilities The Programme Specialist is member of a small interdisciplinary team of dedicated professionals, who have the ambition to make SWEDESD a central international network node in the domain of learning and decision making for strong sustainability.The Programme Specialist will make significant contributions to the management, design and implementation of the Centre's learning, research and communication programmes and activities, with special reference to the educational dimension of ESD and sustainable change.In particular, the Programme Specialist, in close cooperation with Gotland University's Game Design Department, will collaborate in research & development with respect to the application of video/computer game technology and the use of simulations and scenario building for sustainability learning and decision making.
