Project Manager

The Institute of Environmental Medicine, a department at Karolinska Institutet, is an interdisciplinary research organization within the field of Environmental Medicine. The purpose is to carry out research and education, and perform investigations and analyses, pertaining to physical and chemical aspects of environmental medicine and health protection.Research at the unit of Toxicology & Neurotoxicology is focused on the molecular mechanisms of cell death and its implication in human disease. Karolinska Institutet requires a Project Manager for a European Union Integrated Project financed under the 7th Framework Programme. The project, entitled "Apoptosis systems biology applied to cancer" has 24 partners from 11 European countries. The total requested budget for the whole project is around 11 million Euros (around 100 million SEK). The successful candidate will work in close contact with the coordinator and an EU project administrator, and will be responsible for the management and organization of the activities of the consortium. This will involve all aspects of project management including continuous contact with all partners, monitoring of scientific progress, distribution of information within the consortium, preparation scientific reports and communication with and reporting to the European Commission. The position as Project Manager will be 50 %. The position should be combined with a position as post-doctoral researcher 50 % performing experimental studies within the project.
