The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) is looking for Project Manager within Health Sector Posted in Afghanistan Scope of Work SCA's Health Programme is implementing a Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) in the Wardak province.The BPHS is focussed on Mother and Child Health services and basic curative and preventive services.The Project Manager is head of the management team at the Project Office (PO) in Wardak province.Through that role, the Project Manager will ensure the successful implementation of the project to achieve its objectives.S/he will ensure the quality of the services as well as the appropriate use of its resources in conformity to the project contract, the SCA regulations and the national health policy.S/he has a personnel responsibility of managing some 10-15 staff.Regular visits to the project sites are required.The Project Manager also ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.S/he works in close co-operation with the Health Technical Unit and Operations Department at Kabul Management Office.S/he collaborates closely with other units at the project office and ensures good and regular contacts/briefing with related provincial and district authorities and other external stakeholders.The Project Manager reports to the Director of Operations (concerned Deputy Director of Operations). Responsibilities Supervisory Tasks .Coordinate and supervise the activities of PO health unit staff .Oversee and guide the implementation of the health project activities according to the policy, strategy, work plan, budget and other guidelines Technical Tasks .To provide leadership to the project and to build a team spirit to maximise the effectiveness of the management process .Responsible for drafting Internal Project Document (IPD), work plan and budget for the project .To ensure quality of the health activities through regular technical follow-ups and evaluations .To represent the project, towards the provincial administrative and health authorities as well as the various coordination bodies Finance tasks .To lead the unit in the budget preparations, follow up and revisions Training tasks .To promote the capacity building of the project staff through coaching and support, training and adequate level of involvement in the decision-making process Tasks of intra-organisational relations .Promote gender equality, non discrimination with regard to ethnic, political and religious background Tasks in relation with external agencies .To participate actively in ensuring broad understanding and acceptance by local communities of the Wardak BPHS project and SCA in general Entry Requirements Qualifications: .Graduated from recognised university as a Medical Doctor, preferably Master degree in health management Experience: .At least six years working in a higher managerial position preferably in health based development projects Others: .Fluency in English .Solid knowledge of planning, budgeting and report writing .Computer knowledge at operational level, SCA uses Ms Office standard software Contract period: 1 year SCA offers a competitive salary, free housing, insurances and other benefits.More information about SCA can be found on our web site www.sak.se
