Project manager/Programmer

Entrepreneur wanted for an exciting web based health care project.Do you want to narrow the Gap between health oriented research and the public?Perhaps you also would like to make people aware of, and to mind their, risks for different diseases?Are you a true entrepreneur used to get things done in collaboration with others?Gapminder in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet is currently looking for an enthusiastic, creative, energetic and motivated person that is supposed to be the key person in a project for visualisation of disease risks.The project aim at visualise how life style interacts with genetics with regard to risk of disease.- Project administration and planning of the project - Initiate and hold contact with different organisations and institutions - Take active part in the development (technological as well as pedagogical) of a tool for visualisation of risks - Report activity to the steering committee - Programming (Primarily Web oriented programming such as Flash/actionscript or php) The working tasks may depend on the experience of the applicant and the description above should be considered as a whishing list for the position.The ideal person is a project leader that is used to make things happens and is not afraid of working hard in order to achieve goals on the way to the finish line.This person should be a creative individual that are used to come up with new ideas as well as changing already existing ideas if necessary.Action script programming skills (Flash), experience from quantitative oriented health research such as epidemiology or health economics as well as previous experience from visualisation work are warranted but not necessary.Experience from starting up and finishing IT-projects and/or having experience from running a company, as well as being an entrepreneur are very competitive skills for the successful applicant.This position is a two year position located at Gapminder.If the project is successful there is a good chance for a prolonged position.Gapminder is a non-profit venture promoting sustainable global development and achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by increased use and understanding of statistics and other information about social, economic and environmental development at local, national and global levels.We are a modern "museum" that helps making the world understandable, using the Internet.
