Project Manager Millennium Development Goals Awareness Project Background and Scope of Work Since 2006 SCA has been the Lead Partner of a Consortium with the British Charity Organization Afghan Connection (AC) in an EC funded project where 49 Afghan schools have twinning co-operation with their partner schools in Sweden and England.The project has been quite successful but is to be terminated after its three year period by the end of February 2009.The main role of the Project Manager is to ensure the coherence and co-ordination of the activities, that the project is run in a smooth manner and meet its targets and to ensure that there is a proper financial control of the means.Also, that it lives up to its obligations to the partners, to national co-financing donors and by the end of the day - to the EC.Although the main bulk of activities on the national arena are handled by the facilitator, the Project Manager will be directly involved in some activities of a more overwhelming character. Responsibilities/Tasks Project Management - To manage the MDG awareness project, operationally and financially.- To enhance systems for effective programme monitoring and evaluation, including risk management - To write and submit reporting to EC and the Steering Committee -To initiate, procure and sub-contract evaluations and reviews - To organise, facilitate and supervise studies, aiming at developing the project, assessing quality of implementation and drawing conclusions on possible impact - To participate in monitoring missions - To collaborate closely with the facilitators and other project staff in the partner countries and Afghanistan.- To coach and train staff in order to promote knowledge, capacity and technical skills Co-ordination - To coordinate the work carried out within the project and promote maximum coherence between the activities carried out in the four partner countries.- To enhance internal project coordination mechanisms - To pro-actively develop synergies between the activities in the countries concerned.Entry Requirements Qualifications: University Degree in management, education, social or political science, communication or equivalent documented qualifications and experience.Experience: Professional profile and experience within education and/or project management with an established career in a developmental context (e.g.awareness-raising, mobilisation, information) Minimum 3 years experience of project management in a multi-cultural environment.Others: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Good supervisory, leadership, planning, analytical and troubleshooting skills Team worker Ability to cope with a stressful environment.Experience from Budget Control issues Proficiency in English as a working language IT and computer literacy Political/cultural astuteness Ability to travel to Afghanistan and partner countries The following criteria are considered an advantage * Experience from an overseas assignment * Experience from the education sector * Experience from the media or the communication sector * Experience from muslim communities Contract period: 36 month with 6 month probation period More information can be found on our web site www.sak.se
