The International School of Helsingborg has provided a truly international education at the Primary and Secondary levels since 1995. PYP is looking for a substitute PYP Coordinator to cover for a maternity leave. This role will be 100% PYP coordinator for PYP 1 - PYP 6. The role will be a temporary 1 year contract. The person in this role will be the curriculum coordinator only, it will not be attached to a principal position. The role of the program coordinator in an IB World School is diverse and crucial to the success of the programme. Fundamentally, the coordinator is responsible for providing IB information, guidance and administrative support to candidates, colleagues and other stakeholders. At ISH, the coordinator works cooperatively with the PYP principals to implement, develop and organize the program.
The successful candidate will have a degree and qualification in primary education as well as work experience from primary school teaching in grades 2-5. It is also essential that you have some basic training and experience with the IB Primary Years Programme, its philosophy and curriculum.
Since we work in an international environment it is a requirement for the position to be fluent in English, both oral and written as well as methodology for teaching English to children.
We are looking for a team player and a positive, open minded and flexible person. When working with the staff and students, you will be firm, but kind and goal oriented. The role demands strong skills in leadership and communication for regular collaboration and development for staff in whole and small group formats. In addition, the ideal candidate will have strong skills in organization and administration for maintaining and documenting adherance to the IB program goals and philosophy. You will offer support for teachers and support staff in developing their knowledge and understanding of the IB Primary Years Programme as well as upholding our school-specific essential agreements and policies. As a pedagogical leader, you will take the time to get to know the staff and students - interacting and creating relationships with them. In your role you will take initiative to make the school a place where students thrive.
