Quality Director- Battery Systems

We’re looking for an experienced leader within the field of engineering to join our high-performing team.

Northvolt Battery Systems is a fast growing business area and as the Director of Quality, you will lead, manage, and inspire engineering teams in creating and delivering excellent quality products as well as be directly involved in solving challenging technical problems.

You will be responsible for managing business critical systems, setting and facilitating project goals, contributing to core product strategy, and most important to develop and grow the team.

You have strong communication skills, both within the engineering teams and with the stakeholder across the various projects you will interact with.

Strategy and Development

- Overall responsibility for Quality activities across the business
- Create and implement best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures
- Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
- Financial Budget & Control

People Management

- Provide leadership to departments under their control and coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement
- Responsible for developing the appropriate organizational structure, resource plans and culture to support the business objectives and customer deliverables

You need to inspire and motivate the team. Consistently manage performance firmly and fairly and in a supportive manner. You are resilient, optimistic and open to change also self-motivated and able to work well under pressure.

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

- Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant commercial or engineering discipline.
- Considerable and diverse demonstrable experience of leading a quality function with a proven track record in strategic quality leadership.
- Proven project management and quality experience
- Knowledge and technical understanding of regulated industry processes, components and manufacturing techniques

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.

We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We are also preparing for upcoming positions at the main factory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå.
