Imanet, a division of GE Healthcare, was created in February 2001, when an international network of leading imaging research centers was announced to
provide pharmaceutical companies with imaging solutions to accelerate and facilitate development of novel therapeutics. The network was created
principally around Positron Emission Tomography (PET), a powerful, quantitative imaging technology which provides information for the early
detection of tumors through biochemical and physiological processes and drug-receptor interactions at a molecular level.A diagnostic PET service is offered to assist the pharmaceutical industry in monitoring the effectiveness of new drugs during the development stage. With contractual
work for the majority of the world's top pharmaceutical companies and several strategic collaborations in place, Imanet, a 160 million business, is progressing well financially and scientifically.
