R&D Hard Materials is a research- and development center for hard materials focused on rock drilling applications. Our field covers a broad range of materials development technologies, and we’re now looking to strengthen our research team with a driven and competent R&D Engineer. This is your opportunity to join one of the world leaders in the development of solutions for the mining industry – and to work with cutting-edge technology!

Your mission
Your main responsibilities include development of new materials as well as material characterization and the development of characterization methods. We work primarily with the development of cemented carbide, while other hard and super hard materials are also of interest. The role is broad, ranging from material development to new product launches, and includes external collaborations with customers, institutes, and academia around the world. You work primarily in project form, as part of a team consisting of development engineers and product managers.
The location for this position is Västberga, Stockholm.

Your character
We’re looking for someone with a PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Geology or Physics. A background within metallic, ceramic, or composite materials is a strong advantage, as is previous experience with cemented carbide materials. It’s an advantage if you have a strong competence in material characterization including Electron Microscopy and EBSD (Electron Backscatter Diffraction). As we operate in a global setting, you need to be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
