R&D Intelligent Machining and Digital Manufacturing deliver high value solutions through existing and extended channels, technology standards and intelligent machining technologies; this is done by exploring digital business opportunities through market and technology insights and research so that Sandvik Coromant can reach its objectives for growth and future market position. The department also defines strategies and portfolios, establishes strategic partnerships and maintains secure-solutions life cycle management. We are now exploring new market opportunities and are looking for an R&D Engineer for mechatronics and control.
Key performance areas
As an R&D Engineer your area of focus is developing technology platforms and products for embedded systems and cutting tools, supporting intelligent machining products. The technology platforms will be used in product development projects in the following areas:
- Modeling, simulation and visualization of dynamic systems and controls
- Machining center CNC interface and machining process automation
- Digital and smart factories
- Development of algorithms for control of mechanical devices and machines, signal analysis, diagnostics and process monitoring, and user interfaces
- Software development for embedded systems
- Taking part in design of integrated devices containing mechanical/electrical hardware, microelectronics, sensors, wireless communication, and programming
- Ensuring product reliability, security, robustness, and troubleshooting
The position may involve traveling to some extent.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with an MSc or PhD in Control and Automation, Mechatronics, or Electronics and a minimum of three years' work experience within similar fields. Your educational and practical work experience includes design and verification of mechatronic devices, control and automation of linear/non-linear systems, and design of embedded HW and SW systems. You have extensive knowledge from application of various sensor technologies, wireless devices, standards, and electronics. You have been working with software development and are familiar with digital signal processing algorithms and applications. Ideally, you have experience from machining process optimization, machining center CNC like Siemens and Fanuc, diagnostics, process monitoring and user interfaces. Your skills in English and Swedish are very good, both in writing and speaking.
