We are currently looking for a driven and ambitious R&D Product Expert Specialist to our Vending and Beverages business unit.The R&D Product Expert Specialist strives for product excellence and drives continuous improvement for our products and services. Ensures that requests are being integrated into laboratory operations and that recipes are correctly optimized and planned. We need this role to be able to work independently but with support from R&D team, to take responsibility for driving and improving work processes.

With over 190 years of chocolate drink experience and 3 factories in Europe, Barry Callebaut Beverages is the world’s leading manufacturer of specialty cocoa and high-quality milk-based solutions. Uncover the unique machine functionality of all our products. The beverage development center of Barry Callebaut is located outside Helsingborg, Sweden. There, powder drinks are developed and manufactured for a global market. The focus is on chocolate and coffee, but also tea and milk products are in the assortment. The products are marketed under brands such as Ögonblink, Van Houten, Caprimo, Bensdorp and Le Royal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Process Engineer during industrial trials when required
Assess our product range from technical point of view, e.g. discuss feasibility of a project with operations, production, QA or Technical Advisor
Assess and approve usability of existing raw material, label and packaging.
Analyze customer, competitor sample and reference sample
Define primary, secondary and tertiary packaging requirements, define layout and previsional content of label and request for new packaging information/specs to supplier
Define recipe requirements based on customer specs, reference material and in collaboration with internal colleagues
Create recipe and perform provisionally checks, e.g. make recipe calculations request internal and external sensory tests with QA, e.g. perform panel tests
Align with and inform other departments on test results and define next steps in product creation
Analyze test results and evaluate packaging & label prototype
Prepare and validate technical sheet
Control, fine-tune and monitor first industrial productions, outcome of tests and customer feedback
Coordinate and confirm all info and resources are ready for industrial trial, e.g. check correctness of SAP material on production order, add info to the transfer database
Identify and discuss changes to recipe with other departments, e.g. discuss recipe adaptations with local production
Identify new receipts together with other departments, assess feasibility (Validation)
Ensure compliance for new products through regulations knowledge
Prepare creation form for industrial trial

rofessional qualifications
Bachelor/Master degree in Science/Engineering or similar, preferably in a food science discipline
A proven track record of contributions in product development, processing or similar functions, preferably in a food industry
A proven track record on product transfer, setup of new production equipment or processes is a plus
Solid skills in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge in Axapta and SAP is preferred
Fluent English (speaking, writing and reading), German and/or Swedish is a plus.

A self-starter and be able to complete duties and responsibilities
Hands-on mindset, strong understanding of industrial food processing, ingredients and their physical, chemical, sensory and regulatory impact on our products
Flexible team player with the ability to work according to tight and changing timelines
