Regulations and system engineer battery pack systems

Would you like to be involved in Scania's development of sustainable products where electrification is an important part of the formula for success?

A central, strategic part of the electrification process is the battery system, which provides energy to power the vehicle. We aim to create a high-performance product in terms of energy density and safety.

About the group

The group you will be part of is a member of the value creation team (VCT) energy storage and is contributing to several teams in and on the side of the VCT. We have responsibility for safety, performance, properties and legal requirements/regulations. We aim to be a part of high-performance, specialist teams to develop the world's best battery pack systems. The regulations, requirements and certification area is growing and needs more engineering colleagues!

About the role

You will be a member of our regulations team working on battery development and electrified vehicles. Examples of your tasks include investigating regulations and requirements worldwide and interpreting the knowledge into a Scania strategy for developing batteries in the best possible way. Regulations vary and we must make our assumptions and decide how to develop the whole battery pack system in the best possible way.

You will also most likely be a part of lobbying groups. We participate in several groups nationally and internationally. You will be an active part of forming our strategy in future regulations work. The new Batteries regulations are new legislation which will form and impact our way of working. Another example of a task is ADR for electric vehicles, second use and producer obligations. This area is very expansive and under change, which is why you must be used to working independently, have courage and have the drive to search for and develop new knowledge.

One day at work could look like this

• You travel to Brussels to meet with different commissioners to affect them in various areas when it comes to battery safety, rules and regulations.
• The next day you might choose to work from home and participate in different teams meetings regarding development work for laws and regulations for "safe batteries".
• Participate in IRL or teams meetings where you share information with other teams concerning regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods (ADR).
• After the meeting, if you are in the office you have a nice lunch or coffee with your colleagues
• Give expert advice regarding certification.
• After work you take one of our electric bicycles to Scanias the nearby health centre.

 Your profile

• You are probably a curious engineer with an interest in technology, regulations, law and legal requirements.
• You have the will and ability to develop and push for results.
• You commit and think it’s fun to come up with new ideas and work closely together with colleagues in an inspiring climate.
• You have knowledge of regulations, and legal requirements and preferably experience in the development of heavy vehicles which are under influence of legal requirements. Experience in similar work is a strong merit.
• And maybe you like to take the next step in your career, broaden your skills with a new area, and continue your journey as a person and a professional.
• You are competent in speaking English and good at Swedish.
