Role Purpose
To protect Beiersdorf’s corporate reputation and the reputation of each Beiersdorf brand in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland), by ensuring compliance with all regulations applicable to product ingredients, licensing, labelling, packaging and claims.
Main Priorities
Regulatory Affairs
· Keep abreast of the legislation and regulatory guidelines in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Finland, which relates to product ingredients, licensing, labelling, packaging requirements and permissible claims. Review industry codes of practice and consultation documents and respond/contribute as necessary to best protect the commercial interests of Beiersdorf.
· Work with wider Northern Europe Regulatory function to formulate regulatory policies and provide strategic recommendations to Northern Europe Management.
· Provide training and summaries/reference materials to stakeholders in relation to the regulatory issues relevant to the Beiersdorf business, to include (non-exhaustively) ingredients, testing, packaging, claims, storage and sell-by dates.
· Ensure all labelling and product related copy on pack and on leaflets is legally compliant.
· Ensure good pharmacovigilance and cosmetovigilence practice.
· Provide technical support to Marketing (including digital and external agencies as required) to enable the Nordic businesses to ensure that all promotional materials and communications are technically correct, clear, do not mislead the consumer and do not breach the laws and relevant advertising codes applicable in each Nordic country.
· Work with the Beiersdorf Hamburg Research and Development team to ensure that product claims for the Nordics can be supported from a technical perspective. Collate and evaluate technical data and ensure Nordic regulatory expertise is provided to the global product development teams.
· Prepare technical claim justification dossiers and negotiate with advertising clearance agencies/regulatory authorities and government bodies to achieve relevant marketing approvals.
· Manage local requirements for the appropriate marketing medical devices in accordance with EU and local Nordic laws.
· Liaise with and make presentations to regulatory authorities and government bodies as required to defend Beiersdorf’s marketing position.
· Work with Legal team to address authority, retailer and competitor challenges.
· Maintain registrations with relevant regulatory bodies and trade associations to ensure that Beiersdorf Nordic counties are fully informed and aware of the current and future regulatory environment. Maintain product databases.
Issues Management
· Work with the wider Northern Europe Issues Management and global Issues Management teams to continue the effective implementation of Northern Europe Issues Management processes within the Nordic countries
· Work together with the Northern Europe Lead Regulatory Affairs Manager to identify, assess and investigate all potential consumer, regulatory body, media or customer-related issues, in order to provide technical advice, potential solutions and written statements for use by the Northern Europe businesses to minimise any negative impact on reputation.
· Liaise with P.R. and Consumer Relations teams to provide them with technical information and statements for their use when communicating with the media or consumers.
· Work with Northern Europe Lead Regulatory Affairs Manager to report all issues to the HQ issue management core team
Profile
A recognised basic degree
Ideal candidate will currently be in a similar role or in another quality or technical role, which involves ensuring compliance with cosmetics legislation
Good technical knowledge
Ability to understand and interpret legislation (directives, regulations and regulatory guidelines) and to communicate relevant information to stakeholders
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Logical/analytical approach and ability to problem solve
Ability to research and compile a technical argument and present a case with authority
Ability to view the wider picture and plan strategically
Excellent time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently with senior management
Fluent in English language
