Research Chemist

Surface Chemistry a business unit of AkzoNobel, operates in 50 countries, employing over 1500 people. Based in Chicago, IL, United States, with regional marketing centers in Bridgewater, NJ, United States, Singapore and Stenungsund, Sweden, we are a leading supplier of specialty surfactants and synthetic and bio-polymers additives. Using a combination of Chemical expertise, process technology, and application know-how, we solve problems for a multitude of manufacturers and formulators. We service a wide range of industries including agro, asphalt, cleaning, fabric care, paints, mining, personal care and oilfield.

We are hiring a Research Chemist to the Synthesis/Pilot Group, based in Stenungsund, Sweden. One of our employees will be away for maternity leave and therefore we have a temporary opening with a starting date in September. In your role as Research Chemist you will be reporting to Section Manager MAS & PPR.

In the role as Research Chemist you will:
- Independently run assignments and in accordance to prioritizations for both internal and external customers, and interpret the results.
- Proactively communicate results and suggestions to the customer during the work for complex task in order to ensure that the results, samples and the used resources fits the need ot the business. Report the results according to the routines in the management system.

We also believe that you will actively contribute to the safety and order of the lab, and have a strong focus on the Health, Safety and Environment questions.

Candidate profile

To be successful in this position you hold PhD/Licentiate in Chemistry or related field with emphasis on organic chemistry. Alternatively you hold M.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 5 ? 7 years of experience in organic chemistry. In addition, you have excellent skills regarding practical lab work and usage of relevant working equipment.

On a personal level you are proactive and enjoy working towards continues improvements.You have good communication and interpersonal skills, are fluent in English and Swedish, both written and spoken.
