Research Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose:

We are looking for a Research Engineer with strong focus on laboratory work to the Chemistry section within the Protein Tools department. The department is part of the Research & Applied Markets R&D and responsible for the development and support of various products primarily within lab media, sample prep and electrophoresis. The main responsibility for the role is to develop new and improve existing methods for synthesis of chromatographic media.

Essential Responsibilities:

Independently plan, perform and document given tasks from Project Manager or Section Manager, to reach given project objectives
Perform experimental work within the area of media design and ligand chemistry
Independently solve problems of "trouble shooting character" in project work
Report results both orally at internal meetings and in writing, e.g. eNotebook, technical reports
Individually or in co-operation with others, whether at own initiative or in compliance with supervisor's instructions, improve old, and develop and/or invent new methods, applications and products, which can be patentable

Qualifications/Requirements:

MSc or BSc in organic chemistry or similar
Documented laboratory experience in the area of organic synthesis
Documented experience of product development work
Theoretical knowledge and practical experience regarding protein purification
Fluent in English and Swedish both verbally and in writing
Good interpersonal skills
Accurate and structured team-player
Excellent communication skills
Excellent computer skills and ability to work in both general and internal systems
EU work permit

Desired Characteristics:

Good knowledge of primary characterization methods such as NMR, GC-MC, IR, titrations etc.
Result oriented
Able to represent the section in technical discussions/issues
