Researcher - modeling and simulation of "Power-to-Gas" technology

Arbetsbeskrivning

Department of Energy and Technology
The Department of Energy and Technology at Soil, Water and Environment Center (MVM) offers a stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment with both national and international focus. We have expertise in technology and systems for sustainable food production and bioenergy. Within the field of methodology, we have extensive competences in Systems Analysis including Environmental Systems Analysis and LCA, Biometrics (statistics and mathematics with application in biological systems) as well as Automation.

Duties:
The research includes the development of models for dynamic simulation of energy systems with "power-to gas", i.e. production of hydrogen with intermittently produced electricity. The work includes the design of energy system scenarios with dimensioning of technical solutions involving biogas plants and various CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage) technologies in order to evaluate opportunities and limitations in terms of technology choice, economy and environmental impact. You are expected to have a leading role in the implementation of the modeling and simulation work as well as further develop your ideas related to existing competence at the department and in collaboration with external actors. You are also expected to lead and participate in project applications within the subject area, and to participate in teaching and doctoral student supervision.

Qualifications:
You should have a doctorate in technology with a corresponding focus and specialization relevant to the research area. Completed Post Doc or equivalent after dissertation is a requirement. You must have good and documented skills in computer-based modeling of energy systems with e.g. Matlab / Simulink or other software, preferably where "power-to-gas" is included. Experience of biogas systems is an advantage. The applicant must have the ability to independently initiate, lead, carry out and complete research projects and to generate and publish the results in international scientific journals. University pedagogical education or documented pedagogical ability is considered as a merit. The holder of the position must be able to communicate fluently in English (in writing and orally). Good knowledge of Swedish is an advantage. Analytical and problem-solving ability, motivation and ability to work independently as well as in a team are considered important qualities for this position. We put great emphasis on personal traits.
