University Animal Hospital
The University Animal Hospital, Equine Clinic / SLU, Uppsala, Sweden has a position open for an ECVS residency in Large Animal Surgery.
Duties:
The resident is expected to participate in all aspects of equine clinical surgical and medical services including primary and referral emergency surgical and intensive care duty. The resident will work under supervision throughout and will be given increasing responsibility as they gain experience during the programme.

The equine service is supported by a team of 4 board certified specialists (surgery, medicine, equine sports medicine and rehabilitation). There is also extensive specialist support in related disciplines including anaesthesia, dermatology, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, reproduction, and pathology. Of the 5,000 equine hospital admissions, approximately 700 cases are managed by the surgery service. 

Qualifications: 
Applicants who have a degree as Veterinarian from an approved education in Sweden or another EU/EEA country or in Switzerland are welcome to apply.  Minimal pre-requirements are the completion of a one-year rotating internship or equivalent experience. A good knowledge of English and/or one Scandinavian language is required in order to interact with owners, students and colleagues.

About SLU Universitetsdjursjukhuset (UDS)
UDS is SLU’s resource for clinical research and education, and the only University Animal hospital in Sweden. 

Within UDS, both training of veterinary students and animal nurses are carried out. UDS has approximately 200 employees who provide qualified veterinary care 24/7 for cats, dogs, small pets and horses. UDS also has an ambulatory training clinic with veterinarians who travel out to stables and farms. 

The University Animal Hospital is well equipped and strives to be at the forefront of modern diagnostics and treatment and always works based on a scientific approach. 

The hospital accepts both primary cases and referral cases. In addition to modern business-adapted premises and equipment, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics, a laboratory of the highest quality and dedicated employees with broad and high competence.
