Sandvik is a global engineering group active in tooling, materials technology, mining and construction. The complexity of multiple markets, laws and regulations as well as a decentralized operating model is constantly a topic. Evaluating and managing risks and balancing them against potential rewards requires accuracy and strong integrity across the business. Our Group Risk Management team actively support the business to achieve its strategic objectives by providing expertise and guidance within Risk Management. It serves with tools such as policies and guidelines and engages with our decentralized organization to support risk-based decision making through our Enterprise Risk Management framework. Should a risk materialize, this team ensures that processes are in place to mitigate the effects through business continuity and crisis management plans. In parallel, the team proactively arranges for tailored and cost-efficient non-life insurance solutions on behalf of Sandvik Group to ensure that relevant risks are transferred to the market and to meet various stakeholder and customer expectations.

The location for this position is Stockholm, and during normal circumstances some international travel is part of the role.
Let’s talk about the mission
In this position, you contribute to the development of the organization’s overall risk management strategy and ensure that risk exposures are accurately identified and managed. You’re responsible for several of our global non-life insurances, making sure they are globally compliant and covers all required aspects of our business. You investigate different ways of successfully negotiating efficient insurance solutions by leading annual negotiations with external insurance partners, and you communicate with the business terms and conditions of both contracts and claims handling. Good relations with our business areas and divisions is key, so is collaborating with Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity Management.
What about you?
We’re looking for someone with a background in insurance and risk management and who’s very familiar with the complexity of global insurance programs and the type of job we’re offering. A relevant degree within Finance, Law or Engineering, or another degree in combination with the right experience is expected. Group Risk Management is a small team of internal experts and the use of insurance brokers to support the business is limited, why you must be prepared to take on administrative tasks and also to support your colleagues in a prestige less way when needed. Experience from liability or property insurance as well as loss prevention would be considered a benefit. Since we act in an international setting, you need excellent English skills, verbally and in writing, and knowledge of Swedish and other languages is a plus.
You have an excellent ability to organize your tasks and prioritize between your areas of responsibility. Being an active listener with an outgoing personality, you have no problem leading negotiations and cooperating in a decentralized setting. This combined with your communicative features, enables you to build and maintain strong relationships and networks, both within and outside the organization. You always stay updated in your areas of expertise to act on possible changes, and as you’re analytical while you look at things from a high-level strategic perspective, you easily identify detailed goals and tasks.
