About the company
Symcel is a Swedish medtech company, based at Karolinska Institute in Solna. In our modern facilities we have sales, marketing, labs, production and both product and application development.
Symcel is home to a mix of business drivers and scientists, all with the common aim to bring our technology to use for tackling some of the world’s most acute health issues, including antibiotic resistance and metabolic diseases. We are a highly educated and international team of around 15 people, out of which 11 are full-time employees. Our work language is English.
We provide customers in academia and industry with a unique tool for real-time in-vitro measurements on cell metabolism, enabling a wide range of new assays for both basic research and drug development.

About the position
In our strive to increase global sales, we are strengthening our team with a Sales Manager. You will be overall responsible for our sales activities. Together with the CEO you will continuously develop and drive Symcel’s sales strategy.
You will also engage heavily in operational sales where you will approach, enthuse and ultimately convert pharma/biotech companies and academic research groups into customers. Your main tools are your computer, phone and our scientific data. Your courtyard is the world, with a starting focus on Europe. The role involves travelling in terms of visiting potential customer labs, exhibiting at conferences and organizing demos. As we continuously expand, you will increasingly perform both direct sales as well as build relationship with distributors and strategic sales partners.
In the sales team, we have a strong focus on always starting new interactions with potential customers. You work closely with our Application team in learning about new data and opportunities but are expected to be able to handle also quite technical discussions by yourself. You will lead our sales efforts as a team and work very closely with other Symcel team members either fully or partly devoted to sales.
Symcel is an entrepreneurial company and there will be large opportunities to further develop set sales activities and shape future initiatives. We keep a high level of sales activities and are meticulous in logging our progress in the CRM system. All while enjoying to discuss science with scientists and look for commercial opportunities. You will report to the CEO.


About you
We believe that you have experience from working with sales of instrumentation or lab tools within the life sciences. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine interest in new people - an extrovert wanting to make the most of your scientific background and social skills combined.
We also believe you are flexible as a person and can adapt to the rapid changes and demands inherited in the nature of a startup company.


Requirements:
>5 years experience in sales within life science
Academic degree within Science or Engineering
Critical-thinking, problem-solving and time-management skills
Goal-driven and proactive personality
Able to travel at least 4-5 days on a monthly basis
Professional level English, spoken and written
Excellent interpersonal skills



Meriting:
Experience in selling medical instruments or lab tools and equipment
Experience in marketing
Previous work with microbiological methods or cell-based assays
