Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 16.45 and Friday 8.00am - 12.30pm with 30 mins unpaid lunch break Monday to Thursday (not required Friday as half day)
Details: Must have a relevant engineering degree and a background in engineering as well as senior purchasing experience. Must have excellent English speaking communication skills, as will be expected to communicate verbally, in writing etc with staff, management colleagues and customers. Will need to be able to interpret engineering drawings.
Full driving licence required as UK and overseas travel will be required.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Responsible for the management of suppliers providing bespoke engineering components to the company, ensuring that these suppliers are constantly improving their service to the company.
KEY TASKS:
1. Support Head of Procurement to ensure the Purchasing function satisfies the business demands through efficient supply chain management.
2. To negotiate and manage supplier accounts through effective, proactive, and robust contracts, making use of appropriate performance measures to drive continuous improvement.
3. Identify current and future purchasing trends and evaluate which ones are appropriate for Norbar.
4. Participate in the company New Product and Process Improvement (NPPI) activities, ensuring that the financial objectives from a purchasing perspective are achieved.
5. Continually investigate alternative sources of supply where technology, quality, cost, service and delivery can be improved.
6. Liaise closely with the Engineering and Quality Departments to ensure that components consistently conform to specification.
7. Assist in identifying, devising and co-ordinating the necessary training on and development of the Purchasing processes.
8. Encourage and discuss with suppliers their investment in appropriate new technologies to ensure their future competitiveness.
9. Any other duties required by the Head of Procurement.
