Position:
Senior Buyer - Electric & Electronics
Work assignment
For the following direct material commodities, Investigate European supplier base for cost competitive sources of supply.
- Power Electronics
- Electrical Motors
- ECU’s
- Software
- Electro Mechanical Actuators
- Components made from composite materials
- Machined components, gears and shafts
Review and approves purchase agreements to ensure compliance with corporate strategies, polices and procedures to develop a competitive supplier relationship.
Establishes partnership relationship between Purchasing, Engineering and Plant Operations to ensure commercial/ operating alignment on local supply activities.
Support and develop a local prototype sourcing strategy.
Participates in cross-functional plant forums and works with heads of operations to understand all procurement requirements and plant performance objectives.
Produce weekly/ monthly performance & progress reports.
Monitors supplier performance and drives resolution of complex commercial, legal and operational supply issues.
Reduce purchase costs in line with company objectives and achieve year on year cost reductions.
Remains abreast of industry developments and help to determine appropriate application of corporate strategies towards meeting AAM’s quality, delivery and total cost objectives.
Ensures coordination between local and corporate purchasing activities to ensure maximum leverage is gained from AAM’s corporate supply base.
Participates in regular global purchasing forums to convey local requirements. Prioritises issues and shares best practices.
Issue RFQ’s for both existing AAM global and potential new business, evaluate suppliers, provide justification and recommend sourcing strategy to overall commodity manager and sourcing committee.
Support & co ordinate AAM associates on local visits.
Identifies and assists in implementing business process improvements.
Clearly define and highlight differences between local cultural business practices and AAM’s business practices.
Qualifications
Desired Knowledge:
- A high degree of problem solving, planning, time management and organisation skills.
- Strong analytical, critical reasoning, communication, and personnel development skills.
- Highly proficient PC computer skills.
- A clear working knowledge of Oracle business systems.
- Experience in operating purchasing polices / procedures in a global corporate environment.
- Can demonstrate a high level of negotiation skills.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum 7 to 10 years purchasing experience in a high volume environment.
Desired Education:
- Hold a degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience: Engineering back ground preferred.
- Pursuing a Masters degree or equivalent
- Certification: pursuing purchasing certification (CPSM) through institute of supply management (ISM)

- You must be fluent in English, our primary working language. An additional working language such as Swedish or German is an advantage.
