At Electric Propulsion we constitute the core competence center in Northern Europe, leading the way in Li-ion battery technology and automotive battery systems. We play a pivotal role in shaping the future of battery cell strategies and supporting our suppliers to craft tailormade battery cells for Volvo Cars, as well as collaborating with other brands in our quest for innovative solutions. 

The Cell Durability team sets and follows up durability requirements on battery cells and are responsible for supplier life prediction and service life estimation. We are growing fast within the battery cell analytics area, offering exciting opportunities to shape the way we work and drive future technology. What you’ll do
You will be responsible for the battery cell durability characteristics such as supplier life predictions and service life estimations. You will be analyzing a large amount of test data and treat the data in a structured way. 

The battery packs are designed and assembled in-house which require a close relationship between the different design teams to ensure the vehicle requirements are fulfilled. You will also have close contact with our cell suppliers and work in close cooperation with CAE, cell design and integration teams. You will get the chance to be involved from the concept phase to the vehicle release. 

For future development of batteries, we collaborate closely with universities and have joint ventures with other companies in the field of electrification. 

Tasks and responsibilities: 
•    Write durability requirements and participate in sourcing process.
•    Project durability deliveries in different phases of the project;
     fulfilment of durability requirement, warranty agreements, service life design target and usage strategy.
•    Define cell durability test matrixes and test codes.
•    Secure cell data from supplier, internal and external labs
•    Analyzing a large amount of cell data using Python scripts
•    Close collaboration with supplier and surrounding teams
•    Feed cell data to CAE simulation and visualization tools
•    Participate in advanced engineering projects exploring new cell technology, test methods,
      cell usage strategy and ageing mechanisms.
•    Documentation in a structured way and participate in continuous development of way of working.

What you‘ll bring
The battery cell is a key component, we interact with different internal stakeholders and many teams are dependent on our input, therefore deep knowledge in cell chemistry and cell materials are essential for this role as well as a collaborative mindset and project management skills.

You also have experience with handling large amount of data and have documented skills using Python or similar. You are analytical and love problem-solving.

It is a creative and challenging work in a new field with many new areas to discover. It is important that you enjoy sharing information and knowledge with your colleagues.

We are looking for a teammate with experience from cell design and/or cell integration and production, who share our passion for Li-ion battery technology. Have you been the main contact person between battery suppliers and OEMs?

Key skills and preferred experience:
•    General interest in automotive electrification.
•    Knowledge on cell chemistry and cell design.
•    Experience working with electrochemistry & Li-ion battery cells.
•    Knowledge on main factor influencing battery degradation.
•    Basic knowledge on battery ageing mechanisms.
•    Basic knowledge on battery life prediction model principles. 
•    Practical experience in working with battery cell testing and data analysis.
•    Experience in analyzing large amount of data using Python/MATLAB.
•    Experience in using Office tools e.g., Excel, Power Point and Word
