This includes challenging areas such as product planning, program management, propulsion and platform strategy and partnership strategy.

Special Products & Accessories is a "stand-alone" organisation within Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management, where the main mission is to create customised and brand building products, based upon consumer insight, business and market needs. The department Interior Styling is developing different interior systems and products to Special Vehicles. We are constantly aiming towards finding new innovative products and solutions that will enhance our product range and increase our profitability. We work in close cooperation with other departments within Volvo Cars R&D, as well as with national and international suppliers. We have a complete responsibility for strategy, technology, skills and business development.

As Senior Design Engineer you will plan, design and visualise the development of interior styling and create 2D and 3D models. You will work in a global environment with high speed and a wide contact net. All development work is performed in Catia V5 and Team Center Engineering. The Design Engineers are involved during the entire development phase from advanced engineering to products in production.

Main responsibilities

* Develop, update and release technical documents such as drawings, 3D models and technical regulations in Catia and Team Center Engineering
* Hold meetings with suppliers and styling
* Communicate and report to the task leader targets, status and prognosis for the technical solutions
* Participate in Design Reviews Design Review (DR) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
* Develop technical solutions that meet requirements for technique, time and cost
* Establish and transfer knowledge to Design Guidelines, System and Component specifications
* Develop and share experience and competence within the technical area

Required qualifications

* BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design or equivalent experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in Catia V5 and mechanical engineering in the automotive industry
* Wide experience in mechanical development of products in different material and processes
* Experience from low volume development and processes is meritorious
* Project and team leading in automotive business is meritorious
* Competence in interior material development plastic, textile, leather, rubber is meritorious
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driving license B
