We are part of an agile product development organization with SAFe as a way of working and in our ART Complete Vehicle Diagnostics the mission is to ensure that customers’ vehicles are diagnosed accurately, reliably as quickly as possible, and with the feedback mechanisms such as continuous integration to enable continuous improvement. 


The team and the offer!
The Diagnostic Data & Analysis team is a small but fast-growing team, which is building and operating the big data platform for the company. We collect massive amounts of data; provide storage, access, and high-volume processing. Do you want to contribute to improving the functionality of our cars worldwide? Then the role as Senior Diagnostic Data Engineer is the place for you to prosper. You will collaborate with different stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment and be an important player of the team in close collaboration with Product Owner, your work will affect hundreds of Volvo Cars engineers daily!

Your contribution
You will deliver new and improved big data services and infrastructure; this include build and manage data pipelines, dashboards, query system and analytical database architecture. In order to support our growing user base and enable data-driven development at Volvo Cars.

Your main task is to develop a diagnostic data platform and repository management, from concepts described in requirements, models or use cases together with the aim of simplified and proactive diagnostic systems. You will also be part of the concept work for the new Diagnostic Platform and find solutions for the implementation. You will be responsible for data stewarding, interfacing “external customers” with regards to data and access and to see to that we employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to marry systems together.

You will be part of different cross functional teams, working closely with product teams, engineers, data analysts and the line management as well as side by side with other specialists. You will be known as a "data generalist" who can partner across business teams to find and execute on the highest leverage opportunities to democratize data, conduct data-driven analysis, and automate manual processes. This include developing data pipelines, enhancing our data warehouse semantic layer, building, creating dashboards and visualizations, conducting ad-hoc analysis, and automating processes that get us closer to real-time planning, forecasting, and data-driven execution. Last but not least you will be responsible for data stewarding, interfacing “external customers” with regards to data and access and to see to that we employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to marry systems together.

What you’ll bring
You share our passion for diagnostic and data analytics, automation, and tools supporting product decision making. You have reached 'Expert-level' knowledge in Data Engineering, preferably you have experience from using data analytics tools and languages. We think that you have a university degree within computer science or electrical engineering preferably with signal processing as major as a base.

You enjoy being a part of an efficient engineering team and are a great communicator with a hands-on approach to problems. You have the skills and the spirit to guide, train and motivate your junior colleagues towards success. 
You have the ability to self-start and self-direct work in an unstructured environment, comfortable dealing with ambiguity. If you previously work with problem-framing and prioritizing, it’s beneficial as well as experience from managing a broad stakeholder base and projects would be.
