Welcome to Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group Sweden.


Our team is part of the After-Treatment Technology. We provide state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution of complete products, for all Volvo group customers. The responsibilities of this group are to design and develop the catalyst kit as well as the aftertreatment controls and diagnostics. These responsibilities include meeting regulatory requirements contained within emissions and on-board diagnostics (OBD) legislation while balancing a broad spectrum of boundary conditions in varying environments and vehicle duty cycles. The job suits engineers that enjoy combining control and monitoring theory and measurement data analysis with performing hands-on testing.

What you will be doing?


As a Senior Performance and Calibration Engineer in EATS Your responsibilities will include developing real time and post processing algorithms used to analyze machine data for failure prediction. You will develop algorithms used to analyze machine performance, efficiency, and application metrics. You will also evaluate alternative Machine Learning tools and models. Assess aftertreatment performance and emissions margin by reviewing data gathered in performance test cells, durability, engineering vehicles and the reliability growth fleet. Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state of the art developments in the powertrain components and systems industry and applying the new knowledge to designs.


Data Analytic:


It will be within your role to collect and evaluate large data, to test new software functions together with the control software development team, to optimize your field of responsibility in the most efficient way. You will also be able to analysis vehicles in different environment conditions which requires a willingness to travel worldwide. You will be working with on-board diagnostic functionality pertaining to the aftertreatment system catalysts, filter, sensors, and other technologies. You will verify OBD monitor performance and robustness through data analysis from trucks, test cells, and other sources.


Furthermore, this role includes:
Plan, conduct, and interpret results from development and verification testing
Innovate OBD algorithms and concepts with respect to future certification requirements
Perform calculations by applying the latest analytical methods in support of monitor testing and design

Domestic and international travel may be required.


Qualifications of a successful candidate includes Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineer or related field. We also see that you have 5-8+ years of experience engineering/ engine development or exhaust aftertreatment development. Furthermore, it's important to have good knowledge of probability and statistics, Python, Simulink, and Matlab. You need to have experience developing and integrating diesel engine and aftertreatment On-Board Diagnostic monitors. Other qualifications for this role are:
Fundamental understanding of Diesel Engine and Aftertreatment Operation
Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems

As a person we see you being strong in your communication and presentation skills, action oriented with ability to work with minimal supervision and being motivated to solve problems and develop quality solutions in a timely manner. Other skills needed for this role are:
Innovative mindset with customer focus
Familiarity with OBD development
Familiarity with controls theory
