GVA is a world leading marine and offshore design company for semi-submersibles and other floating units.Over the years GVA has executed more than 100 projects in more than 20 countries.The company has its origin in GVA shipyard where the GVA series of semi-submersibles originally was developed and fabricated.Today the GVA Series of semi-submersibles has been further developed and refined and include a wide range of units with displacements from 13,000 to 145,000 tonnes.Based on the experience of well over 100 engineers deployed within conceptual design, naval architecture, structural design, marine and drilling systems, GVA provide high-value design solutions to each and every project.GVA has a strong customer base including many of the largest Oil and Gas companies in the world.GVA.with global Headquarters located in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR.GVA?s reputation has been built upon the company?s ability to provide cost-efficient, state-of-the-art, safe and environmentally sound design solutions.GVA is presently holding a healthy order book and the company is well positioned to capture further growth.Position The Senior Stability Design Engineer will be a part of the Stability and Marine Operations department and will be reporting to the Group Manager The primary responsibilities will include: -Preparation of design brief documents and system description reports -System engineering (P&ID development and applicable analyses).-Preparation of bid packages -Technology development within Marine Systems -Take on roles such as Discipline Lead engineer and/or Project Engineer -Flow and pressure calculations.-Active participation in design reviews, HAZOPs and the likes -Offshore inspections -Development of commissioning plans and procedures -Active participation in Mechanical Completion and Commissioning either as system responsible or manager -Short and/or longer stays at shipyards and other sites around the world. Profile The ideal candidate has qualifications and competencies which primarily include: -Completion of a M.Sc.degree in Mechanical engineering, Naval architecture or similar.Extensive experience can replace some of the requirements for educational background.-Minimum 10 years experience of relevant marine systems experience -Design experience from offshore applications -Good knowledge but preferably long experience with ABS, USCG, DNV and NMD codes, regulations, guidelines and standards -Documented experience from designing ballast, bilge and/or oil cargo systems -Commissioning experience -Willing and able to be stationed abroad, typically in Asia, Brazil or USA -Communicates fluently in both English and Swedish.-Initiate actions to progress work and takes appropriate action to meet challenging goals, schedules or business needs.-Takes personal responsibility for own career path by actively seeking development opportunities.-Question the effectiveness of current systems and processes and looks for ways to improve on them.-Mentors others in self development by sharing experiences of both previous successes and failures.
