At Volvo Cars Global Supply Chain Management function, we manage and develop a global inbound supply chain that is constantly evolving to be ready for the future. We work together with internal and external stakeholders to find the best-in-class logistics solutions for our global inbound supply chain towards our production plants. We are a diverse global team based in Gothenburg, Shanghai and Charleston that is looking for a leadership team colleague to lead and develop our intercontinental ocean and air logistics business. The automotive logistics industry is a dynamic, competitive yet rewarding place to be with lots of challenges in the years ahead as the automotive industry is transforming to an electrified and sustainable future.
This is an expert role, directly reporting to the Head of Global Logistics Engineering & Strategy. For the right candidate development into a leadership role is a possibility over time.
What you will do
You will be the responsible business owner for the intercontinental transportation business. This includes responsibility for strategy, network design, budget efficiency and sustainability performance. You will get a deep understanding of the global Volvo Cars supply chain and expected to become an expert in how intercontinental transport supports our daily operation as well as our growth and transformation. You will learn to know, set-up and design our intercontinental network end-to-end from setting the strategy to supporting the commercial process through to implementation. Continuous improvement together with our logistics partners to deliver cost and CO2 efficiencies both short and long term will be a key focus area. Collaboration with leadership team colleagues, cross functional work with other teams (including our procurement team), external benchmarking and network analysis will support you to make the best commercial and sustainable solution for Volvo Cars.
Do you fit the profile?
The ideal candidate has a rich experience from both the intercontinental transport industry and from a global production supply chain environment. However, we are also welcoming candidates with a strong background in either of the areas with the potential and interest to learn and grow into a fully accomplished logistics and supply chain professional. A university degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar is a requirement. You probably have experience in project management and understand commercial processes and supplier relationship management well. Leadership experience or potential is considered an extra merit. You are motivated by working in a global organization and can communicate effectively, selling new strategies and ideas both to management, logistics partners and peers.
