Senior Geneticist in CVGI Bioscience AstraZeneca

We are now looking for an experienced scientist, preferably with a PhD degree in Genetics or equivalent, for a 12-month replacement in the Genetics and Bioinformatics section, CVGI Bioscience department. The main responsibility of the geneticists in this section is to provide genetic expertise to projects in all stages of drug discovery and development, from target identification to product launch.Important aspects of the work include general target genetics/bioinformatics support, support to target validation, animal disease model work, patient DNA sample collection and evaluation, biomarker work, pharmacogenetic (PGx) issues incl.variability in drug response and patient stratification in clinical trials.The person we are seeking have experience in mining, analyzing and interpreting data related to: .Complex disease genetics .Genome annotation & analysis .Gene structure & splice variants .Gene variation (SNPs), LD & haplotypes .Genetic association studies .Animal genetics & Comparative genetics/genomics (rat, mouse, dog etc.) .Multiple sequence alignment & phylogenetic analysis .Protein structure and function .Gene expression Knowledge in the following areas are considered as additional qualifications: .Drug discovery process .Pharmacology, incl.PGx .Cardiovascular disease biology The person we are seeking is well organised, delivery focused and has a strong sense for teamwork.You will be expected to work in close collaboration with disease area projects and plan and perform your work independently.A solid scientific background in human disease genetics or animal model genetics is strongly asked for.
