Senior Mining Engineer – Open Pit operation and automation at the Mining Engineering Department
The Mining engineering department supports all Boliden’s mines in Sweden, Finland and Ireland. The mining engineering department includes the sections for Rock Mechanics, Mine Planning and Production Technology. Our tasks include problem solving and methodological support in operations, evaluation and implementation of new technologies, project planning for new areas in the mines and evaluation of new deposits.
Duties
The Technology Department manages development and implementation of new technologies and methods at our operating mines. The Mining Engineering Department collaborates closely with the other Technology departments, the operating staff at our mines and the equipment suppliers. Our Engineers act as both project managers and project team members, but certain studies are also performed individually.
As a Senior Mining Engineer – Open Pit operation and automation, you will:
Be a project manager/team member in automation implementation projects, mainly focusing on our open pit operations
Develop and implement new technology
Be an operational support to the mine sites on their day-to-day work
Develop and implement new processes and routines
Support the mines in current processes and routines

As a project manager or -team member in implementation projects, it is important to drive change and deliver sustainable results on time. It is important that you can work in a group and collaborate with people at all levels of the organization.
You will also be part of a network of mining engineers within the Business Area Mines, where you are expected to participate actively in developing the business.
This position is a full-time, permanent position based in Boliden. Extensive business travel will be required, including longer assignments at the mine sites where the technology is being implemented. The starting date is subject to agreement.
Education and other qualifications
You should be a graduate engineer with training in mining engineering, or the equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mining industry as a mining engineer. To be considered for this position you must have experience from large open pit operations.
Previous experience within project management, mine planning and operation of open pit mines is a requirement. Experience from implementation of modern fleet management systems, tele-remote operation and autonomous haulage is an advantage.
You should be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written in English. If you are proficient in Swedish that is a merit.
Category B driving licence is a requirement.
