Senior Research Scientist - Analytical Chemistry

We are looking for a new team member to work as a Senior Research Scientist in Analytical Chemistry in our iLAB team within Discovery Sciences Chemistry. This role will be placed at our vibrant R&D site at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The iLAB team is focusing on the identification, exploration and implementation of new synthetic methodologies and automation technologies and their application to drug discovery. What you will do:
Key task will be to support the chemists within the group with your expertise in analytical chemistry and compound purification. You will furthermore play a meaningful role in our efforts to integrate analytical and purification instruments with the already existing automated chemistry platform.

In your everyday work you will also be responsible for purification of single compounds and compound libraries, including subsequent analytics. You will drive the development and adoption of innovative technologies to further advance the autonomous synthesis and purification of new compounds. Identifying, develop and apply new, ground breaking purification and analytical approaches is also part of the role. Along with proposing experimental strategies, troubleshoot laboratory-based problems and make a significant contribution to the delivery of the team.

Essential for the role:

* MSc in either analytical or synthetic organic chemistry with minimum 5 years experience in compound purification and analysis using state-of-the-art instrumentation and -software.
* Hands-on experience with lab automation equipment like for example liquid-liquid dispenser, liquid-solid dispener, automated sample storage systems, etc.
* Up-to-date with relevant analytical chemistry literature and innovative technologies.
* Understanding of the chemical sciences and how they contribute and influence drug discovery together with knowledge of the drug discovery process.

The successful candidate should be motivated to work collaboratively and has the ability to interact and communicate efficiently across global scientific functions and fields. We also believe that our new peer is able to priorities and to perform tasks in an independent manner.

Desirable in the role:

* Basic understanding of synthesis chemistry.
* Skills to troubleshoot instrument failures.
* Interest in laboratory automation.
