You will apply your proven cell biology expertise and passion for driving projects and novel science in a drug discovery environment. Leading from the bench, you will generate, develop, culture and analyze a variety of mammalian cell types, ranging from primary cells, through iPS to immortalized cell lines. This will require excellent technical skills and understanding of cell culture, molecular biology and genetic modification as well as knowledge and application of techniques such as flow cytometry and next generation sequencing.
The role
The role involves proposing experimental strategies, troubleshooting and making a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects as well as novel science to advance our capability and for external presentation.
The following skills are highly desirable:
Extensive hands on cell culture techniques on a variety of mammalian cell types (including primary, iPS and immortalized cell lines)
Generation of genetically modified cell lines
Cell analysis and validation techniques such as Flow Cytometry, Next Generation Sequencing, ddPCR and Western Blotting
Good molecular biology skills
Experience in the use of viruses (e.g. Lentivirus, AAV)
Solid understanding of assay development and screening
Accountabilities
Contribute to the design and analysis of experimental procedures based on your expertise in the culture, manipulation and analysis of mammalian cells and by incorporating the views of others
To interpret experimental data and play a significant role in the planning of further experiments
To maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature
To achieve personal scientific visibility and leadership through project contributions, internal presentations and external publications
Technical Lead/Supervisor
A hands-on, lab-based role as a technical specialist in Cell Biology. The focus is on effective planning, communication, delivery, troubleshooting and putting ideas into action in support of drug discovery projects and novel research.
