Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) covers the entire value chain from long-term research to final delivery of complete vehicles for production to the Volvo Group truck business as well as supporting the products in the aftermarket. The Driver Environment and Human Factors team performs applied research and development, with the primary goals to develop and ensure a safe, comfortable and efficient relationship between the user and the vehicle system. To do this we have a multidisciplinary staff of employees, skilled in human factors, engineering sciences and design.

We are looking for a person with cognitive and technical skills to strengthen Volvo in the research and development of the future driver environment.

Role and responsibilities:
Initiate international R&D collaboration projects together with universities, institutes and companies within the area - on a global arena
Lead research and advanced engineering projects in collaboration with Volvo colleagues in a global organization
Conduct applied research and development of the driver environment for future Volvo products. For example connected to interaction design, user experience, driver behavior and safety
Define state-of-the-art for the area, scan the environment (e.g. markets, competition, customers) and identify future trends
Build Volvo Group internal and external networks
Develop new competences within the area and be a technical mentor
Take an active part in the implementation of new technologies
Be a driving force behind generation of Intellectual Properties

Background and qualifications:
PhD in Ergonomics Engineering, Interaction design, Cognitive Sciences, Psychology or related field
Established network including academia, industry and authorities
Entrepreneurial and innovation skills
Experience of automotive HMI research
Experience of implementation of research findings into product development
Strong communication skills including technical writing and presentation

Furthermore, you should be a good representative of the team with the ability to create trust and good relations with colleagues on all organizational levels of the Volvo Group.

You most likely have a genuine interest in the automotive industry and applied technology development, especially in relation to traffic safety and human factors.
