We are now recruiting a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department within the Early Respiratory and Immunology (Early R&I) therapeutic area.


You will be part of the In Vitro and In Vivo Science team where in vivo and in vitro studies are performed and subsequent bioanalysis of drugs, drug metabolites and biomarkers using state of the art technologies. What you will do
As a Senior Scientist DMPK you will be responsible for design, conduct, interpretation and reporting of in vitro ADME studies. You will apply state of the art in vitro DMPK science across drug discovery and development to support compound design and project progression. You will also recommend, initiate and lead new innovations that ensure cutting-edge DMPK science is applied to drug project issues.


In addition you will provide scientific leadership by leading and driving collaborations with key academic centres and by presenting work through lectures and publications in top-tier scientific journals. The role also includes managing student and Post Doc programmes. You will contribute to the discovery of new life changing medicines for patients and demonstrate what science can do.


Essential for the role
* PhD degree or equivalent qualification
* Background in Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Biosciences or similar
* Broad knowledge about ADME processes and relevant in vitro models of drug disposition, and track record in development, characterization and application of translatable in vitro models
* Understanding of the drug discovery process and how DMPK studies contribute to that process
* Excellent interpersonal skills that lead to successful collaborative working relationships and ability to work in cross-functional teams on a day to day basis as well as independently
* Desire to carry out scientific development and research work with a view to publishing collaboratively
* Strong customer focus with the ability to have robust discussions with project leaders to ensure that project, scientific and resource demands are aligned.
* Good communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing are required

Desirable for the role
* Experience in bioanalytical techniques, e.g. LCMS
* Experience from industry environment a plus
