We are looking for a Senior Scientist Steel
As a Senior Scientist, you will be driving the scientific development and availability of knowledge, capabilities and technologies in the steel area at SKF as well as across competence areas. To be the scientific gatekeeper in steel competence area and to represent SKF in the outside world, in for example international scientific committees. Upon request of the SKF business areas, provide consultancy on scientific background and to facilitate the initiation of R&D projects where needed. Accordingly, represent the competence area in discussions with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
• Scientific gatekeeper
• Responsible for steel research roadmap
• Drive innovation
• Provide input, recommendations and advice regarding emerging and future steel technologies
• Provide knowledge on steel technologies to SKF stakeholders and support technical cooperation with suppliers and customers
• Recommend, maintain and harvest external collaboration with recognized institutes and universities
• Accelerate implementation of results in SKF
• Strengthen multi-discipline programs as a Technical Lead
• Mentor junior staff
• Formulate official "SKF position" on business critical aspects related to steel technologies
• Review and approve scientific publications and presentations


Job requirements
• PhD in the relevant field
• At least 12 years of working experience in the bearing steel research area
• Track record in steel innovation (implemented solutions, publications, patents)
• Enthusiastic attitude
• Self-motivated and pro-active
• Customer-focused and result oriented
• Good communication skills and fluent in English
Our offer
This is a temporary position with duration of approximately 6 months. You will be located at the SKF Headquarters in Gothenburg.
