Job Title: Senior SQL/Unix Developer

Typical responsibilities include:
Execution of development and maintenance projects related to Re-Insurance, including:
" Provision of estimates and schedules for software work products.
" Supporting QA and UA functions so that projects are successfully completed.
" Production support

Experience and Attributes Desired:
Essential:
The primary skill requirement of this position is a deep and broad knowledge of SQL, preferably gained in a UDB environment although experience on other databases will be considered.In addition to a detailed knowledge on the SQL commands, an understanding of topics such as transaction logging, performance tuning and parallel processing is required.It is unlikely that anyone with less than 5 years solid SQL experience will have the knowledge required.
Other essential skills are:
" UNIX (system services, kernel and drivers)
" UNIX K shell scripting
" UNIX batch scheduling
The following would be an advantage (in order of importance)
" Prior experience as a DBA on any large scale relational database.
" Any prior experience of working with actuarial systems would be a major advantage.
" Autosys
" PVCS
" File transfer protocols such as FTP and Cyberfusion
" Knowledge of IBM mainframe environment, in particular TSO/ISPF, JCL, and Changeman
This position may require travel to the US from time to time.The position may require flexible working hours (for example 10 am to 6pm) and paid 24 X 7 production support may also be required
