What Do We Offer?
Propulsion & Climate Labs is Volvo Cars’ Centre for testing of propulsion systems, in complete vehicles as well as in component form. We operate and develop propulsion test facilities for vehicles, drivelines, electric motors, batteries and transmissions, as well as aerodynamic and climatic testing. Our work includes hardware- and software preparation of testing, test execution and processing of measurement data. 

To meet the future, we need to utilize state-of-the-art methods to test and verify next-generation cars in an efficient and correct manner. Then the role as Test Engineer within the group Battery & Charging Lab is the place for you to prosper.

The battery lab is now expanding to support the industrialization of the future electrified powertrains from Volvo Cars. We work tight together to develop the testing of battery cells to complete batteries. We are in a technology shift where the design is changing at a rapid pace and we as a team need to be agile and at the same time deliver repeatable and precise data.

What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for the daily operation of the testbed including ensuring that all test equipment used is maintained and calibrated. You will program the automatic test system and code test cycles.

You will receive requirements from our customers on what to test and during which circumstances. You code the test procedure and then independently, on regular basis, evaluate the test result in order to verify that the test is generating the result asked for, if not you need to adjust your code. 

You will also prepare test objects as well as plan, execute and analyze tests together with internal customers. You will need to constantly learn new test methods and test systems as we are in an expansion phase.
Last but not least you will have the opportunity to be part of a team constantly developing the battery lab and our way of working.

Skills & Experience are Important
You have education in Chemical/ Electronic/Electrical engineering and at least a couple of years of experience coding in Python, C++ or similar. In addition, you will need experience working with test simulation or in a lab. You have gained the knowledge of how to verify that test results are in line with expectations. 

If you also possess Li-ion knowledge, it is star potential!

You are a curious team player, who possesses strong communication skills but are also comfortable working independently. You have a genuine interest in batteries and working in labs, you love to learn new things! As a person, you are patient and have the ability to keep accuracy over time.
