Simulation & Analysis Engineer – Aerodynamics

Arbetsbeskrivning

Doesn’t it bother you when you are driving, and you have a lot of disturbing noise from the airflow around the car/truck? Is the physics of aerodynamics what keeps you awake? Then you now have the possibility to change this and make an impact! Come join us at Volvo Group Trucks Technology as Simulation & Analysis Engineer within Aerodynamics with a focus in Aeroacoustics!

Who are we, your new colleagues?
We are searching for you, our next colleague, to work as Simulation & Analysis Engineer within Aerodynamics, at our department Cab Engineering and team Cab Analysis. Our team works in different domains with skills in; Aerodynamics, Durability/Strength, NVH and Quality Impression. Truck Performance and Simulations are the major parts of our group and we are a support function to the other teams within the Cab Engineering department such as Exterior, Interior and Cab Body.

The Cab engineering department is responsible for developing new advanced cabs for the future trucks while also continually adapt our current products to different market demands. We work as a global team with the different sites around the world. Working in this international environment is an exciting challenge and now we offer you the chance to join us.

The current Cab Analysis team has a mix of gender and age and exists of 10 people including all domains where of 2 are in the Aerodynamics domain, but we are currently expanding so the team is expected to grow in the next years. We also have very much cooperation with other analysis/testing teams at site Gothenburg and the other Volvo GTT sites in Bangalore, Lyon & Greensboro on a daily basis, which members become a great part of our team as well. In Cab department Gothenburg we also have a “great place to work” team that arranges common activities for the department for health and social wellbeing, such as pub quizzes, cooking, ski trips, photo competition, training activities and much more with the common goal to make the employees and consultants at the department to feel it’s a “great place to work”.

What will you work with?
As “Simulation & Analysis Engineer – Aerodynamics”, you work closely with the design departments and other functions to improve the Aerodynamics performance of the truck. The focus of the job will be on aeroacoustics simulations, but general aerodynamics and air resistance/contamination simulations will also be part of your work.

Main responsibilities
Carry out CFD analysis and evaluate technical solutions. Provide input for improved external aerodynamics, surface contamination and aeroacoustics of the truck
Take the lead at site Gothenburg for the Aeroacoustics simulations
Lead method development within the area of Aeroacoustics together with Aerodynamic analysts from other sites

Who are you?
Since we don’t know you yet, we might now have exactly everything correct about your background. But if we guess, we believe that you are a person that are good at building relationships, networks and partnerships to collaborate as this job is all about working with others to meet shared objectives. We also believe it is important that you communicate effectively and can convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. As this job is about evaluating, creating proposal and making simulation we also believe it is important that you are organized, structured with attention to details and are good at problem solving, e.g. making sense of complex information to effectively solve problems. As you will lead the Aeroacoustics simulations area in Gothenburg, we also value the ability to take ownership for the deliveries as well as the ability to be a team player and put the group/team first.
