The Swedish Committee (SCA) for Afghanistan is looking for Assistant Physiotherapy Advisor (APA) Duty station: Kabul Afghanistan Background and Scope of Work: Afghan Association for Physical Therapists: The physiotherapy profession in Afghanistan is undergoing a rapid expansion, both in terms of training and within the health and medical sector.One crucial factor for the future of the profession is the capacity of civil society entities like the Association of Afghan Physical Therapy (AAPT) ¡V a national membership organisation.AAPT requires increased capacity and further expertise in order to assume its role effectively ¡V something which SCA wishes to contribute to through a capacity building partnership.Hence the APA will work closely with the President of AAPT and the Executive Board, providing management and professional support and support in restructuring the association.The APA will assist in implementing continuing education courses and facilitating contacts with relevant ministries and organisations.Rehabilitation of Afghans with Disability: SCA implements a disability programme known as Rehabilitation of Afghans with Disability (RAD) which covers 13 provinces.An important part of this programme is support of the 80 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work in the RAD programme in hospitals, clinics and Community Rehabilitation and Development Centre.One objective of RAD is to integrate its physiotherapy staff and other physical rehabilitation staff into the health services of the Ministry of Public Health over the next 5 ¡V 10 years.The APA will work with the RAD technical unit to ensure that there is good coordination both within the RAD programme and with external actors in physiotherapy, disability and providers of rehabilitation services. Essential Job Functions Technical Support and Advice - To give advice in order to develop the quality and impact of physiotherapy services within AAPT and RAD - To support the national Physiotherapy Senior Technical Officer - To participate in reviewing and monitoring progress of implementation activities in RAD Capacity Building - To assist in identifying needs for training and capacity building - To train and encourage skills associated with a running a professional association - To participate in arranging workshops, seminars and trainings through AAPT for increased capacity of Afghan physiotherapists Networking and Advocacy - To actively contribute to good relations and linkages with external stakeholders and networks Miscellaneous Tasks - To actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of SCA and AAPT Entry Requirements Qualifications: University Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy or higher Experience: Physiotherapy in a developmental context Working with a professional association Teaching and management Experience from developing country Others: Team worker Proficiency in English essential Knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto an asset IT and computer literate Contract period: 2 year Due to the funding the position is only open for citizen with EU membership.Only qualified applicants will be notified.SCA offers a competitive salary, free housing, insurances and other benefits.Duties to begin in December or as agreed.More information about SCA: www.sak.se
