Software Architect at ABB Corporate Research

Corporate Research Center is a global organization with more than 750 employees in USA, Europe and Asia.In Västerås the organization has about 200 employees with the main responsibility of research and development within Process Automation and partly of Power Systems. About 60 Scientists are working in the SW Architecture and Processes Program, SWAP.This group is now looking for a Senior Software Architect to the office in Västerås.In our research projects we often face the challenge of analyzing, evaluating, and reengineering existing software architectures within the business units of ABB.During these projects we do pre-development type of tasks that usually end up as proof-of-concept solutions.Working closely with the business units our mission is to look out for possible synergies, and provide technology transfer across all of ABB.In our projects we usually monitor, identify, and leverage on existing technologies, to provide solutions to the problem at hand.These solutions can be implemented stepwise or with disruptive innovation. We are looking for a Senior Software Architect who likes to interact with people and to find solutions to technical challenges.Having excellent knowledge about open standards, proprietary and non-proprietary technologies is important for the position, but the real key is having a holistic view.Responsibilities: Work tasks include acting as an in-house expert for ABB's SW development units, focusing on new architectural concepts, evaluating and improving existing architectures.The position also includes running technology pre-studies to provide business units with data for decision-making, as well as technology development projects delivering technical solutions for inclusion in future products. The architect needs to actively listen to stakeholder's values, concerns and goals, create technology roadmaps and scan for opportunities to differentiate.In addition also make assertions about technology directions and determine their consequences for the technical strategy and architectural approach.Qualifications: -PhD/M.Sc.in Computer Science or equal -Great communications skills as the position needs to partner well with a variety of different stakeholder groups, including management at different levels, business analysts or marketing and developers.-Deep knowledge and working experience of SW architecture and SW development in an industrial context -Experience of process automation software is highly valued -Project leader experience -Fluently in English -Great interest and curiosity in technologies Interested to take this responsibility?Go to www.novarejobb.se and send your application.Questions?
