The industry is in a technological shift. Customers are showing a growing interest in automation and digitization solutions and Epiroc has high sustainability goals and a strong focus on improving the safety of employees in mining and infrastructure. In 2008, Epiroc launched the first autonomous machines and much has happened since then. Today, several of our machines can perform all or large parts of their tasks without people controlling them.

To continue the work with future mining, we will now set up a new team. The Automation Lab.

The new agile team, which will consist of a project manager and three software developers, will work closely with various universities, other companies and strategic customers.

We will focus on automation solutions on our machines. For examples; evaluating open source software or new sensor technologies to see if it works in the mining environment.

Job description
As a software developer at Epiroc you will develop our control system for loaders, trucks or drill rigs for the mining business. You will be part of an agile software team following Scrum. The main part of the embedded control system is written in C++ and our target operating system is Linux. Although, in this team we will try other programming languages as well.

As a software developer in Automation Lab you will:
* Perform technology scouting
* Design and write code
* Cooperate with researchers and other developers
* Test your prototype, and sometimes in the real environment.



Your profile
To fit into this team, we think it is important to be curious and brave. We need to try new things and we must dare to take a risk of failure: - Dare to think new.

To thrive in this position you need experience in embedded software development in C++ and interest in robotics. Experience from the open source community is a plus.

You have a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Computer Science or similar field.

This position is located in Örebro, Sweden.
