Software Developer for connecting autonomous vehicles

Software Developer for connecting autonomous vehicles

Arbetsbeskrivning

We are about to experience the biggest change in the transport industry since the invention of cars. And it is happening fast. Not only will there be no drivers in the vehicles, but they will also be coordinated by intelligent planning and scheduling algorithms making the efficiency and utilization rate of the transport skyrocket.

To meet this change Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. This means developing autonomous vehicles as well as the digital infrastructure needed to automate transport completely. This is the Scania Autonomous Transport Solution.

Within Intelligent transport systems, we develop products to connect and control autonomous vehicles. The Scania control center provides advanced automatic planning and dispatches for fleets of vehicles transporting goods and people. The control center has an operator interface and integrates with external logistics systems.

We are now looking for a new colleague for the position of Software Developer to work within the connectivity solution to develop the need for an Autonomous Transport System offboard and the onboard device.

What you will do

You will be welcomed into the highly skilled and competent connectivity team, developing systems as a software developer. The team consists of people of different ages from around the world and we work closely with several other teams in an agile framework.

Technically, you will be working with integrated development environments, testing, software architecture design, and hardware requirement. One day we design beautiful APIs and the next we are out testing in real autonomous trucks. We develop a real-time data processing platform in a cloud environment. Python and C++ are the main programming languages. Other technologies we use are AWS IoT, MQTT, X.509 certificates, and Gitlab CI.

Who you are

As a person, your most important qualities are a hunger to learn, a passion for technology, and the drive and ability to make things work. When it comes to experience, we believe you have a Bachelor or Master of Science in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar, and experience with software development. You have strong software programming and shell scripting skills and knowledge of software design and design patterns. Experience with microservices, cloud development, architecture, and real-time data processing platforms is an advantage.

Our offer

We offer a healthy and inspiring workplace, with great respect for the individual, where you have great opportunities to shape your work and your future. Your personal and professional development is important and something we encourage and support. We offer workplace flexibility but your physical presence at HQ in Södertälje is required at least once a week. Business trips may occur.
