Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be working with all parts of the development process in the team developing the numerical core of Thermo-Calc. A large part of the work will be dedicated to implementing the new CALPHAD core of Thermo-Calc. The current core is written in Fortran, while the new core is developed in Java. The position is also involved in writing and maintaining tests in the Continuous Integration infrastructure (currently Jenkins), maintaining and developing other parts of the core, second-line support and similar tasks.

Qualifications


Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Materials Science with strong focus on numerics, or comparable experience.
Several years of experience in numerical programming languages such as Fortran or C++.
Interest in working with a large legacy code base written in Fortran 77 and 95.
Experience in Java or other object-oriented programming languages is a merit.
Excellent written and verbal language skills in English, knowledge of Swedish is no requirement.
Knowledge of Thermodynamics and CALPHAD is a merit.

In addition, you should be self-motivated and eager to constantly develop your skills.
