Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Autonomous Driving
At Volvo Cars, we envision a world where transportation is personal, sustainable, and safe. Imagine an electric car that drives autonomously—whether it's taking you to work or safely delivering your children to school. To achieve this, we are building a next-generation platform with a software-centric architecture. This new platform will feature a built-in core computer to manage all vehicle applications, enabling real-time decision-making, continuous software deployment, over-the-air updates, and scalable architecture for autonomous driving.
Let's introduce ourselves - Platform Software Services
Our mission is to build a groundbreaking software-centric platform. Our department leads this transformation, and our Agile Release Train (ART) consists of highly skilled Software Engineers who understand software architecture holistically while delivering high-quality code. We govern API and application architecture for the software in the Electric Control Units, creating frameworks, patterns, and policies that enable other teams to build with consistency and success. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do—we work closely with other teams to integrate and innovate.
What you'll do
As a High-Performance C++ Developer, your work will revolve around designing, developing, testing, documenting, and reviewing software on the High-Performance chipset, supporting and enabling contributions from other ARTs. You'll play a key role in setting the standard for software development at Volvo Cars. This role requires creativity, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills, as you will interface with various ARTs and teams across our R&D organization. Empathy, openness, and collaboration are critical to succeeding in this role and fostering the growth of both your team and yourself.
What you'll bring
We’re looking for new colleagues of various seniority with:
• A B.Sc. degree or higher in Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in C or C++ (or other OOP languages) development in a real-time operating system / embedded software environment.
• Proficiency in test methodologies, including unit, system, and integration testing.
• Experience with the following technologies: CI/CD tools (e.g. Git, JIRA), Docker, YAML.
• Software documentation and design tools (e.g. UML, Markdown, Doxygen).
Preferred Experience:
• Ph.D. in the relevant field
• Automotive industry experience
• Linux
• Code review tool (e.g. Gerrit, Bitbucket)
• Familiarity with an Agile methodology
• Knowledge of ASPICE or ISO26262 Standard
• Cybersecurity expertise
Location: Gothenburg or Lund
